Cell and molecular biologist first, computational biologist second.
Michael has worked across multiple laboratories designing, optimizing, and executing biological experiments across many domains. His computational work spans bulk RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, Ribo-seq, ChIP-seq, and DNA-seq, alongside internal tools built to accelerate research.
His work also includes machine-learning applications in biology, including protein-localization prediction. That combined wet-lab and computational perspective is the foundation of Xplore.
Michael ranked 7th globally in the Arc Institute Virtual Cell Challenge, was an early private beta tester for OpenAI's GPT-3 API in 2021, and received the NSF Rising Scientist Award and NIH Signaling and Cellular Regulation Training Grant.
